I'm not the only one with a book release this month - so today, I'm sharing my blog with Regan Black who is also celebrating book release day October 1 with Colton Family Showdown.
Marshal on a Mission
She witnessed a robbery.
Now she's a killer's target.
Book two in the American Armor mini-series releases October 1, 2019. Somehow all of that seems serial, the fact that it's already October, that it's the edge of a whole new era with 2020 around the corner, and that the second and last book in the series is already out.
Time flies.
There's truth in that statement that's for sure. But there's no time for sidewinding on this post. There's books to talk about. While writing Marshal on a Mission, I had fun running my characters through Mexico, skirting Guadalajara, choking on dust, riding in the back of a truck and best of all - visiting San Miguel de Allende even if it was via cyberspace. That Mexican city is one that is on my bucket list. It's known for it's dedication to the arts and, of course, to its amazing historic buildings that tell a history that almost doesn't need words. It was almost as good as a real trip, taking my characters through San Miguel - or maybe not. But I did have fun doing some virtual sight seeing.
I'd leave you with a taste for the city that so entices me but instead I'm going to give you a scene, one of action as gun fire erupts in a crowded market.
A shot came so close that she could almost feel the heat. A woman screamed but the sound was swallowed in the chaos.
This was no coincidence. Trent's warning ran through her mind. He'd been right. It was clear that she hadn't run far enough.
There wasn't time to think of what she should have done. She had to deal with this now. Lead the danger away from a place where too many people could get hurt. She thought that she might faint. Her heart was like a drum that had gone mad in her chest. She wasn't sure if she wasn't having a heart attack. She veered right and away from the crowd.
And then she was tackled from behind and slammed to the ground--and she knew that it was over.
Tara Munroe thinks she's safe. Then a ruthless gang stalks her from Colorado to Mexico. Thankfully, US Marshal Trent Nielsen isn't far behind and vows to bring her home...whatever it takes. Before long, Trent realizes this mission is tough for even the most seasoned lawman. And with no shortage of men gunning for them, he'll have to stay one step ahead if he has any chance of keeping Tara alive.
